Jim Lewis

For Attorney General

Jim Lewis

Florida Attorney General

 “Don’t Trump my Florida”

Fort Lauderdale Criminal Defense Attorney Jim Lewis has filed documents indicating his intention to run in 2022 for Florida Attorney General, as a Democrat, against Republican incumbent Ashley Moody.

Jim Lewis was previously an Assistant State Attorney in Orlando, 1981-1984, a Special Prosecutor to the Statewide Grand jury of Florida under Governor Bob Graham, 1985-1986, and as an Assistant Statewide Prosecutor under then Attorney General Bob Butterworth, 1987-1992.

Jim Lewis stated, “We can’t leave Florida’s future to disciples of Donald Trump. Ashley Moody wants to bring the Texas Abortion law to Florida. She supports “the Big Election Lie” that the 2020 Presidential election was stolen. She has supported voter suppression legislation, and along with her fellow state Republican Attorney Generals encouraged the January 6 attack on the United States Capital. In a sentence “Don’t Trump my Florida, we don’t need elected officials who put political party over country and purposely seek to divide the country.”

Ashley Moody supports Republican Governor Ron DeSantis’ efforts to overrule local school boards who choose to protect our children from Covid-19 by requiring masks. She opposes local governments who choose to protect their communities by requiring vaccinations for government employees, who come into contact with public.”

Jim Lewis stated, “We must move on together as a state away from right-wing ideology that doesn’t care about the things that are important.”

“We need to do everything within our power to end this Pandemic, too many lives lost.”

“We need to focus on protecting our fragile environment, doing something to stop gun violence with common sense gun control, and making our criminal justice system fair for everybody.”

Jim Lewis is a graduate of Orlando Edgewater High School, 1975, University of Central Florida with a B.A. in Criminal Justice and Public administration 1978, and J.D. Law Degree, Stetson University, 1980. He has been an adjunct professor of Law at Nova Southeastern Law School for 25 years.

Jim Lewis currently lives and has a criminal law practice in Fort Lauderdale, and has tried over 300 jury trials to verdict, including 20 First Degree murder trials.
